Chocolate Tart

Updated: Nov 15, 2020

This is a beautiful and indulgent dessert that will please all the chocolate lovers. Crispy buttery base with velvety chocolate ganache filling. Finish with some tart berries and its a match made in heaven! This is an impressive dish that takes very little time to put together. If you're not the biggest dark chocolate fan, you can also make this with white chocolate which would make a very pretty dessert!

Base

125g butter, melted

¼ cup cocoa powder

1 cup flour (or GF flour)

½ cup brown sugar

Ganache

200g dark chocolate (I use Whittakers 50% Cocoa)

100g butter

100g cream

Topping Ideas

Fresh fruit e.g. strawberries, raspberries, mandarin

Nuts e.g. pistachios, hazelnuts, peanuts

Whipped cream

Edible flowers

Sprinkles or festive decorations

Preheat oven to 180°C. Line the base of a tart tin with baking paper. If you don't have a tart tin, you could use a pie dish or even a cake tin.

In a large bowl, mix together melted butter with cocoa, flour and brown sugar, until combined.

Press base mixture into prepared dish and use a measuring cup or spoon to compact, pressing the mixture up the sides as well. Prick the base with a fork and bake for 15 minutes. Chill completely and remove from tart tin before assembling.

Place chocolate, butter and cream in a heat-proof bowl and place on top of a pot of simmering water. Heat until all the chocolate is melted and combined. Set aside at room temperature for 15-30 minutes in the fridge to firm up. You want it to be a spreadable consistency.

Once tart shell and ganache have cooled, fill tart with ganache and top with all your desired toppings!
